Feeding and Watering The food you give your Pomeranian will mainly depend on the dogs age, how much exercise it gets and how much you feed your dog. I do recommend either Science Diet, Iams, or Eukanuba these brands all have different age specified packaging to make it easier to choose the correct food for your specific dog. And always remember to follow packaging directions as to how much to feed your sized dog, just like humans dogs can easily become over weight. Dry food should be used within 90 days after opening, it will quickly loose vitamin value, also mold spores could contaminate the food. Canned food is fine to feed your Pomeranian in moderation, as with anything too much of it can be a bad thing. Canned food is very rich and too much can cause diarrhea, which no one ever wants to have to clean up! Doggie treats are a good thing to give you dog when they have been good and as a special treat once and awhile but they are not a substitute for their regular dog food. Just as your dog needs proper nutrition from his food, water is an essential "nutrient" as well. Make sure that the water bowl is clean, and change the water at least once a day. Water should always be available to your dog, especially during hot days and also if you feed dry food. |

Exercise Although Pomeranians are small dogs, every dog needs exercise. Dogs that get very little exercise are not happy or healthy. Pomeranians are very active dogs and therefore love exercise. But don't worry it's not anything a normal person wouldn't be able to handle. They enjoy regular walks, running around in an enclosed yard with some toys and of course they enjoy romping with other Pomeranians if at all possible! Remember to keep your dogs mind stimulated with toys, chew bones and other doggie goodies. A bored dog is a very bad thing (especially for those new shoes) they will find something to keep themselves busy even if you don't like what they choose to do! |

Grooming and Equipment Because the Pomeranian has a double coat, it will need to be groomed frequently, so it is very important to have short grooming periods introduced at a very early age. To keep your Pom looking beautiful I recommend bathing them between once a week to once every two weeks. Always remember even with dog shampoo you get what you pay for the more you spend on the shampoo the better you dog will look and feel. And remember in the summer months to use a flea and tick shampoo to keep the little pests at bay and your house free of the little buggers! Because of the double coat you will usually need to blow dry your Pom unless you like the smell of wet dog all over your furniture! In the summer months however you can catch warm breezy days were you can just let your Pom run around and dry off outside.
